Supporting Northwest Academy

You can support the school by directing gifts to Northwest Academy through your donor-advised fund.

 

A donor-advised fund, or DAF, is a giving vehicle established as a public charity and allows charitable contributions. With a DAF, you will receive an immediate tax deduction for any money put into the DAF and then can recommend grants from the fund to qualifying charitable organizations.

 

Visit your DAF’s website and choose Northwest Academy as the charity of choice!

Employer match refers to business/corporate giving initiatives in which an employer matches their employee’s contribution to a specific cause, increasing the gift!

 

Many companies in the Portland Metro Area will match your contribution. Please check with your HR Department or call us and we will research your company regarding matching gifts.

 

Northwest Academy utilizes Benevity, CyberGrants, OneCause, and Greater Giving in receipt of these donations, and is always open to joining new portals should your employer use an alternative.

Northwest Academy hosts a myriad of cultivation events for our community of support throughout the year. These are opportunities to get to know our school efforts and the people that make it happen more fully!

In-kind gifts of goods and services are invaluable to Northwest Academy, as they help to offset operating costs and ensure your dollars contribute directly to our students, faculty, and overall health of the school in specific ways. 

If you are a local business or individual interested in supporting Northwest Academy, please consider making an in-kind donation.

We value the stewardship of our in-kind gifts, and therefore, want to ensure the gift intent is in alignment with curriculum, leadership vision, and evolving factors outside of our control. For this reason, we appreciate a willingness to dialogue and the Development Department will follow-up!

If you are 70½ years old, the IRS allows you to allocate a contribution directly from your Individual Retirement Account (IRA) without having to pay federal taxes on the distribution.

As of December 2015, the IRA Charitable Rollover was passed by Congress. For those who are 70½ or older, any amount up to $100,000 can be distributed tax-free from your IRA to NWAcademy or your other favorite charities.

 

For married couples, each spouse can make a QCD up to $100,000 limit for a potential total of $200,000. This amount can count toward your required minimum distribution for the year in which the distribution is made. Although these distributions are not deductible as charitable contributions on your income tax return, they impact your taxes because they are not treated as taxable income to you.
