Russell Hanes

High School Dean of Studies

RUSSELL HANES has a B.A. in mathematics from Columbia University, NY, a master’s in Communication from Portland State, and a M.A.T. in Secondary Math from Lewis & Clark. His first job was teaching English in Japan. After that amazing, eye-opening experience, he taught public speaking and coached competitive debaters to state- and national-level success. He has taught math at Oregon Episcopal School, Potomac School in Washington, D.C., and Taipei American School in Taiwan. At Northwest Academy, Russell is the High School Dean of Studies and teaches math. He is avid about math, good writing (he has written several textbooks), cooking, and snowboarding.
 Russell has been with Northwest Academy since 2015.
