Northwest Academy film teacher, Nora Colie, is the managing director of POW Film Fest, a film festival showcasing films by women and non-binary directors.
In its 14th year, POW is happening this weekend from Friday, September 3–6, 2021 both at the Hollywood Theatre on opening night, and then the Clinton Street Theater for three days and nights after.

Friday, September 3rd: 7 pm - The Hollywood Theater
An exploration of Ethiopia’s most lucrative cash crop, a stimulant leaf called khat. This film weaves a tapestry of intimate stories of the people caught between violent government repression, khat-induced fantasies and treacherous journeys beyond their borders.
Sunday, September 5th: 7pm - The Clinton Theater Haunted by the otherworldly mystery of ancient stone spheres, an anthropologist returns to her childhood home of Costa Rica to repair a broken relationship with her father.
Five heroines from five different, yet similar, worlds face social and systematic oppression and injustice. We follow their journeys as they struggle for hope and a better life.
