Angeles Godinez-Valencia

Angeles Godinez-Valencia is the Education Director for Centro Cultural where she cultivates impactful partnerships for transformative change and designs culturally tailored programs for the Latinx community. As a Latina alumna of the First Lego League and First Tech Challenge and a board member of the Oregon Robotics Tournament & Outreach Program (ORTOP) since 2018, she recognizes the importance of developing programs for underserved communities that engage parents, students and professionals.

Angeles holds a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science and Physics, complemented by a Minor in Math. Having worked in a Physics and Robotics lab, she’s presented her research at the Virginia Tech Women in Physics conference and Landmark Research Conference. Through her research experience she gained the skills to work and manage budgets and requirements such as those from National Science Foundation grants and has extensive knowledge in using, creating, and coding electronics.

Beyond her professional endeavors, Angeles remains dedicated to community service. She volunteers her time as a Cornelius City Councilor and actively participates at Neil Armstrong Middle School and Tom McCall Upper Elementary, lending support to their science after-school programs. Having worked with Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC); youth from marginalized communities; and non-traditional students, she has the skills to effectively advocate for the underrepresented voices that are currently lacking in our education system and create unique, culturally specific lessons, in technology and engineering. Through her professional and volunteer work, she has learned how to understand and respect the needs of her community, to fight and make sure that all are exposed to equitable opportunities.
