ArtsWeek is Back!

ArtsWeek holds a special place on the Northwest Academy calendar. It’s a week full of workshops, rehearsals, performances of Dynamo and Esprit, and senior capstone presentations. All regularly scheduled classes will be put on hold for the week in order for students to have an immersive arts-based experience.  Both students and staff have worked tirelessly to create this celebration of student work in the arts.
On Monday and Tuesday,  May 16 & 17, Middle school students will rehearse and perform "Dynamo". This show will feature most of our middle school day-time and Arts After Hours performing arts classes. A Visual Arts gallery will be on display in the lobby of the theater.

Meanwhile, on campus, high school students will take part in art workshops, mural painting, artist talks, and a few fun surprises.

Tuesday evening is the opening night of Middle School Dynamo at 7:00 PM at the Winningstad Theater in the Portland5 complex.  Call time for involved middle school students is 5:30 PM.

Wednesday, May 18, will have a late start with drop-off at 10 am on campus. On Wednesday morning, students will watch Senior Capstone presentations, break for lunch, and then experience the Dynamo matinee!

The final performance of Dynamo, open to Northwest Academy community and families, will take place that evening at 7:00 PM.  Call time for involved middle school students is 5:30 PM.

On Thursday and Friday, May 19 and 20, High school students involved in Performing Arts will rehearse and perform “Esprit” at the Winningstad Theater. This show will include all of our high school day time and Arts After Hours performing arts classes. A Visual Arts gallery will be on display in the lobby of the theater.

Performances for “Esprit” will run Friday evening at 7:00 pm with a matinee for our middle school audience Friday, May 20 at 1 pm, at the Winningstad Theater. Call time for involved high school students is 5:30 pm.

Back on campus, middle school students and high school students who are not involved in performing arts, will take part in art workshops, field trips, and will attend the Esprit matinee.
