Portland Panorama - JOIN
JOIN, one of the organizations we've worked with in the past and this year is inviting students to apply for the Portland Panorama project. If you would like to learn more about Portland's houseless community, take a look and apply!
What will the Portland Panorama look like?
GATHER OVER ZOOM
In light of COVD-19, JOIN immersion programming is occuring virtually over Zoom. This is an opportunity to keep immersion participants safe and to recognize the particular vulnerability of many folks experiencing houselessness in this pandemic.
BOOK CLUB MODEL
Our extended immersion will follow the book Voices from the Street, a compilation of interviews from community members at Sisters of the Road here in Portland. This allows us to ground our experience locally and center the voices of individuals with lived experiences of houselessness.
BIWEEKLY MEETING THEMES
Participants will have the opportunity to explore a range of topics from circumstances that lead to houselessness to interactions with the criminal justice system with the book, interactive activities, guest speakers, and more.
REFLECT AND GO FORTH
Our program will conclude with space for reflection, allowing participants to consider how to integrate the experience into their lives.
The Portland Panorama will cost $50 per student. We do not want finances to serve as a barrier to participation, so scholarships are available. Please contact immersion@joinpdx.org for
