KIARA WALLS is a multi-disciplinary arts educator and social practice artist. She received her B.A. in Graphic Design from California State University- Northridge and is currently an M.F.A. candidate for the Art and Social Practice program at Portland State University. Kiara began her career in education back in 2013 and has since taught visual arts and social practice art at nonprofit organizations and high schools in California and Texas. In addition to teaching, she also served as a fine arts content teacher leader for a charter school network in Dallas before joining the Northwest Academy in 2021. As a practicing artist, Kiara aims to forge connections between her practice and that of her surrounding communities. This work is manifested through a lens of reparation resulting in site-specific installations, conflict resolution, and conversations. Kiara combines her disciplines to navigate and cultivate community amongst students and teachers at Northwest Academy. Kiara joined Northwest Academy in 2021.
