NW Academy

The NWA Board of Trustees is committed to greater successes in fund raising. This will be accomplished by involving more people - particularly parents and families - in the fundraising process. The outcome will be a stronger Annual Fund, a growing endowment, and a readiness to launch a successful capital campaign for ownership of our school. Parents are asked to support our fund raising programs with personal charitable support and by inviting others, including family and friends, to join in supporting our school. Without public tax support, the NWA relies on charitable giving to sustain the high quality education for the diverse group of bright and creative students who enroll here.


	THE MARLY STONE SCHOLARSHIP Established in 2003 by family and friends of Marly Stone to provide an annual scholarship for an extraordinary high school student who demonstrates that he or she might have the talent, the joy, and the life-force to bring forth light and beauty from various media, as Marly Stone brought forth light and beauty from so much that she put her hands to in her life. The Northwest Academy's 2009-10 Marly Stone Scholar is Ardon Lee. Ardon started Suzuki violin lessons with Shelley Rich at the University of Oregon when he was 3. He began studying with Clarisse Atcherson when he was 7. In 2001-2002 he was a member of the Community Music Center string orchestra, conducted by John Hubbard. Ardon joined the Portland Youth Philharmonic Association in 2002. In 2007, he was winner of PYP's annual solo concerto competition, performing Sarasate's Zigeunerweisen with the orchestra in March 2008. He has worked in master classes with Sergia Luca, Herbert Greenberg, Felicity Lipman, Joseph Gold, Leila Josefowicz, Sarah Chang, Midori, and Anne Akiko Meyers. Ardon enjoys chamber music as well, and has played with the David Kerr Baroque Ensemble since 2004, in addition to a variety of other chamber music ensembles over the years. Vinton, this fund provides annual scholarships for students with interest in performing arts with preference to students residing in Yamhill County.
