Sharon Weir

Middle School Social Studies Teacher; Assistant Head of Middle School

SHARON WEIR has taught all levels of the school, focusing on social studies and Learning Lab at the middle school, in addition to administrative work as Assistant Head of Middle School and COVID-19 Coordinator. She has an M.Ed. from Portland State University, Oregon teacher certifications in middle and high school art and social studies, and a B.A. from the University of Oregon. Sharon brings an inquiry-based approach to the classroom and leads the biennial middle school trip to Washington DC. With a joint background in social studies and art history, she strongly believes in fostering civic engagement through student creativity and historical inquiry. Sharon has been known to sew her own clothes, race down Mt. Tabor in the PDX Adult Soapbox Derby cars (“Best Art Car” – 2009), and explores this vast country on roadtrips with her two kids (42 states and counting!). Sharon has been with Northwest Academy since 2005.
