With its progressive approach to a crucial stage in a young learner's life, The Northwest Academy Middle School offers students a rigorous academic program focused on core learning skills, in an emotionally safe learning environment. Working under the close supervision of experienced teachers, students acquire critical thinking skills in an arts based culture of mutual respect.
The core curriculum is comprised of English, Social Studies, Math and Science.
Math and science classes are designed to prepare the student for secondary level work. Instruction will be individualized when necessary according to the proficiencies and needs of the student.
The Mentored Learning Lab has been designed to enable students to develop crucial study skills: time management, personal organization and how to build a bibliography. Each will receive one-on-one tutoring, as needed, during this time block.
Art electives will include drawing and
painting, movement, theater, music and a
variety of art-sampler mini-courses.
