Amanda Lighthiser

Learning Specialist and Instructional Support

AMANDA LIGHTHISER earned a B.A. in Women’s Studies from the University of Georgia, an M.F.A in Creative Writing from the University of Oregon, and a J.D. from Northeastern University School of Law. She is also a yoga teacher (E-RYT 200) and certified in Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction for Teens. Over the past twenty-plus years, Amanda has taught a wide range of classes in both universities and independent schools from courses on law, culture, and difference, to English literature and composition, to American Studies, to creative writing, to business communications, to yoga and mindfulness. Amanda is dedicated to supporting student growth through a collaborative learning process, fostering self-knowledge and confidence, and empowering students to develop and amplify their unique voices and skill sets. She believes deeply in the transformative power of arts education and is committed to helping students connect with creativity in as many ways as possible. Amanda is excited to join NWA this year as the Learning Specialist.
