After three years of research
and preparation, The Northwest
Academy offered its first elective
program in the Visual Arts,
Performing Arts, and Media
Arts in the Fall of 1996. Its
full-time curriculum opened
to 26 students in the Fall
of 1997. The Middle School
was inaugurated five years
later, in the Fall of 2002.
The Academy currently serves
115 students in grades 6 through
12.
The Northwest Academy draws its
students from throughout the
state of Oregon and southwest
Washington. Its culturally
and socially diverse student
body manifests the school’s
commitment to providing a unique
educational setting for some
of the Northwest’s brightest
and most creative students.
Its small student body includes
African-American, Asian, and
Middle Eastern students.
The Northwest Academy boasts
excellent faculty members,
including:
- Former college professors,
holding Masters and/or Doctorates
in their respective disciplines
- Practicing professionals:
writers, filmmakers, artists,
animators, dancers, musicians,
actors and photographers
- Master teachers with extensive
experience in their fields
The Northwest Academy Board of Directors consists of dedicated parents and community volunteers who share their love for education and their skills with the school.
